Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “I loved this so much that I have bought it twice now! (Second one was a gift) the camera is very high quality, it’s easy to set up. The adhesive holds up VERY well even in -20 F. The instructions are clear & it’s very easy to navigate through the buttons even if you forget later on! The first one I had for about 1 1/2 years so far & is still great! I HIGHLY recommend this one as I have looked at many others & this is a good price for everything you get with it! Your life is priceless don’t be cheap with a camera!I had this camera in both Texas & Minnesota so that’s a good judge for weather wise! It does great in all snow, rain, shine, & night! The rear camera is also a full 360 swivel so you can adjust it to your liking!”
Customer Review: “It’s been 14 months since I had this installed. It works well and never failed (at least, not yet…..). Easy to download the clips and navigating through settings is user friendly and intuitive. The quality of the video is good and sufficient for its intended use. I had one firmware update and it did cause an issue. But the tech team helped me resolve the issue quickly. But overall, this device is great value for dual dash cam. I have seen some other websites (presumably not unbiased) promoting various other brands, but I would stick with this brand for sure.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “I installed the camera around a year ago now, and I’ve been using it everyday since. it provides me great peace of mind to know that all of the crazy things that happen on the road are documented in case of emergency. (although I’m happy to report that I have never needed the camera video for legal reasons 🤞). anyway, the camera has been absolutely Rock solid through thick and thin. I remember it being quite easy to install in my relatively old car, and it’s just been totally reliable even in freezing cold and super hot weather. shout out to the people on the engineering team for making something so widely, durable and reliable. that being said, the picture quality is certainly acceptable, although I wouldn’t categorize it as anything super high res. for the most part it’s enough to capture license plates and that’s the main thing I care about. transfer speed isn’t great to my phone but you can always just take out the SD card. I appreciate having options. overall good camera 👍also, I totally recommend doing the install where you hook it into the car power system so it knows to turn off and it automatically pulls the power from the relay.”
Customer Review: “We purchased the F7N Redtiger camera about 18 months ago and it has now paid for itself 100x over when it provided evidence to the police and insurance that my wife was not the one at fault in an accident that totaled her vehicle and the other party lied to the police. My wife was going to get the ticket after the officer talked to the other party first, but she was able to show the officer the cam video and they reversed course and issued the ticket to the other party. Then the other party lied to their insurance, but after providing the video to their insurance, the adjuster immediately accepted 100% responsibility.Easy to install and with clearly written English instructions. Great suction cup with integrated GPS antenna makes installation a breeze. Cam will slide off mount if you want to hide it while parked without removing the entire mount. Crystal clear video, front at 4k and back at 2k, produce high resolution video where you can read license plates and even identify who was driving another vehicle.Even more importantly, it has a good app that you can use to directly download video from the cam without pulling the card and taking it to a computer. Just in case you are in an accident, you can instantly download the relevant video to your phone and show to Law Enforcement and e-mail to your insurance company. This is hugely important so a ticket can be issued to the at-fault party on scene as my wife did. If you can’t show the officer when writing the report, they may issue the ticket to the wrong party or no one if they can’t figure out who was at fault. If this happens, it’s a long up-hill battle to get the other party’s insurance to pay out and the police will never cancel an incorrectly issued ticket, so it forces you to go to court to defend yourself. If you are in a serious accident (if anyone goes to the hospital, it’s serious), the officer may confiscate the SD card or even the whole camera for evidence. You may not get it back for weeks or even months. Sometimes they get lost an then you have nothing. Have a copy safely on your phone so you can give it to your insurance company and lawyer immediately!Buy the REDTIGER F7N Dash Cam Hardwire Kit to go with it if you want 24/7 monitoring without killing your car battery. Never wonder who backed into you in a parking lot or keyed your car if it happens to you. Some things that set Redtiger apart from the others:They actually have tech support. We had an issue with one camera not liking our SD card and contacted support to see if we had a bum Cam or bad setting as the issue was intermittent. Turns out it was just a faulty card after running a write test on the computer. Not a big issue as SD cards are cheap, but good to know that if you have an issue that Redtiger does support what they sell.Software updates. We’ve owned the F7N for about 18 months and have received software updates to improve functionality. The cam was great when we got it and even better now with new features added.Proof in the pudding:We liked our F7N so much we just bought another Redtiger cam, a F7N Touch, for a new (to us) vehicle and it’s great too.Note: I wasn’t paid for this review nor given a demo unit or anything else. I’m only a satisfied customer that is enjoying the premium quality and features at a great price vs the big-name competitors and their high prices.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “Purchased with the hardwire kit and CPL lens filter. Watched multiple YouTube videos on the install. Watch the bad ones as well just to get an idea of how NOT to do the install. After preparing myself, tackled the install over the weekend. Easiest part was installing the back camera. My Hyundai Santa FE SEL has a hatchback, and for most that was their hardest part. I guess the videos helped me prepare. The rear camera was installed in less than an hour. Plenty of cable, routed along the top down the passenger side. The harder part was finding the right place to plug the hardware kit for power. Key points (1) install the ground wire first, (2) install the battery wire on a fuse (or empty) spot that is always on, the battery voltage will read on the display box on the adapter, (3) install the other on another fuse preferably for ACC (needs to be OFF when car is off and ON when the car is on), when you get this one attached start the car and verify the box display changes to say ACC on the display instead of the battery voltage. Then route the power wires to the camera and the rear camera connections to the dashcam. The video is great when playing from a computer. 4K all around and the player you get from the website even has a ZOOM feature. I started using the 12-hour time-laps recordings, this takes up a lot of memory on the card so you only get about 2 days for the 128G card they supply. I’ve switched to just using the G-sensors now to turn on when it detects motion (jarring), and record as I am driving.Overall happy with my purchase, there are a few things I wish it had: (1) ability to adjust the delay between frames for the time-lapse feature would make it better at not using a lot of memory, (2) my model seems to record the front and rear with slightly different numbers at the end and the player doesn’t know how to sync up the timestamps in the video when playing back (for the time being I can rename the rear to end in the same numbers as the front to fix), and (3) the manuals are very light on content only explains the features by name but doesn’t go into detail what they mean… example they talk about the G-sensor with settings for Off/Low/Medium/High but don’t describe which is more sensitive… in some languages Low translates to higher sensitivity to movement. Also the instructions on the video player for the computer is very light in content even the phone app has huge untapped potential. With it you can see real-time your path on a map and the video sent to your phone while driving. Could be expanded to supply directions.Great product overall… may update later with more details as I try and research all the features.Even better support! Their people are on top and respond quickly to try and answer your questions. If I wasn’t such a computer geek I’d probably have a lot more questions.”
Customer Review: “Solid Dash Cam with Great Support and Value -I bought this dash cam not knowing exactly what to expect. The price was right, and the specs matched what I was looking for. After installation, I noticed the camera stayed powered on even after I turned off the engine. I contacted the company, and their customer service responded promptly. The representative explained possible reasons for the issue and offered to send a hardwire kit to resolve it. However, one of the reasons provided was that the cigarette lighter could stay on after engine was turned off, so I looked it up. I discovered that the cigarette lighter in my car remains active for 45 minutes after the engine shuts off. So, the issue wasn’t with the dash cam—it was with my car’s power settings, which I can reprogram. I thanked the customer service rep and let them know the hardwire kit wasn’t necessary. I appreciated their quick and helpful response. The dash cam itself works well and was easy to set up. The suction cup mount is strong, and I really like the touch screen—it makes operation simple and intuitive. My only complaint is the rear camera wiring: there’s no easy way to hide the long wires, and I really wish future products could have a wireless connection to the main camera.Overall, this is a very nice product for its price range. It delivers solid performance, and the customer support was excellent.”
Complete Buying Guide for Best Car DVR Dash Cam
Essential Factors We Consider
Choosing the best car DVR dash cam involves looking at several key aspects that directly impact its effectiveness and your peace of mind. First, video resolution is paramount; higher resolutions like 4K offer clearer details, making license plates and faces easier to identify. Next, consider the field of view (FOV) – a wider angle captures more of the road and surroundings. Night vision capability, often enhanced by sensors like STARVIS or WDR technology, is crucial for clear recordings in low-light conditions. A reliable parking mode (which often requires hardwiring) protects your vehicle when it’s stationary, detecting impacts or motion. Built-in GPS adds location and speed data, while WiFi allows for easy transfer of footage to your phone. Finally, a G-sensor automatically locks footage during collisions, preventing it from being overwritten. For those driving larger vehicles, you might even consider specific options like a best trucker dash cam which often have enhanced durability and multi-channel views.
Budget Planning
The price of a car DVR dash cam can vary significantly, usually correlating with its features and video quality. Basic models with 1080P front-only recording can be quite affordable, suitable for simple accident evidence. Mid-range options often include dual 1080P or 4K front + 1080P rear recording, along with features like GPS and WiFi. Premium dash cams offer dual 4K recording, advanced night vision sensors, touch screens, and robust parking modes, naturally coming at a higher cost. It’s important to set a budget but also to view a dash cam as a long-term investment in your safety and vehicle security. Sometimes spending a little more upfront can save you a lot of hassle and money in the long run.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, the best car DVR dash cam for you depends on your individual needs and driving habits. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why do I need a car DVR dash cam?
A: A car DVR dash cam provides irrefutable video evidence in case of accidents, protects against fraudulent claims, monitors your vehicle for vandalism or hit-and-runs while parked, and can even capture memorable moments from scenic drives. It offers invaluable peace of mind on the road.
Q: What’s the difference between 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi in a dash cam?
A: Both are frequencies for wireless data transfer. 2.4GHz WiFi has a longer range and better penetration through obstacles, while 5GHz WiFi offers significantly faster data transfer speeds. For a car DVR dash cam, 5GHz is generally preferred for quicker downloading of large video files to your smartphone, although 2.4GHz can be more stable in certain environments.
Q: Do dash cams record when the car is off?
A: Many modern car DVR dash cams feature a “parking mode” that allows them to record when the car is off. This mode often uses a G-sensor to detect impacts or motion, triggering a recording. To enable this, a dash cam usually needs to be hardwired to your car’s battery, often with a voltage protection module, to prevent battery drain. This is a critical feature, especially if you also carry other essential best portable jump starter to be prepared for any car emergencies.
Q: How much storage do I need for a dash cam?
A: The ideal storage size depends on the video resolution and how long you want to store footage before it’s overwritten by loop recording. For 1080P recording, a 64GB card is often sufficient for several hours. For 4K resolution, especially with dual cameras, a 128GB or 256GB Micro SD card is highly recommended to ensure you capture ample footage without immediately overwriting older files.
Q: Are dash cams easy to install?
A: Most car DVR dash cams are designed for relatively easy DIY installation. They typically use a suction cup or adhesive mount for the windshield and power via the cigarette lighter socket. Routing the power cable neatly can take some time. However, if you want to utilize advanced features like 24/7 parking surveillance, hardwiring the dash cam directly to your car’s fuse box is usually required, which can be more complex and might benefit from professional installation.
