Customer Review: I’ve used a few different cable slitters in the past several years and I found them to be a pain to deal with and so expensive, I think the first one I purchased was over $250 and the replacement blades were like $60. I work with fiber Optic cable and having to deal with some pretty gnarly cables, some double armored. What’s great about this cable slitter is it has handles on both sides, I never understood why a lot of them only have a grip on one side it made it hard to cut into the cable and keep it at the right angle as you slit it. I also had issues with blades breaking to easy and even had issues with pieces just vibrating off while just sitting in a tool bag.I like the way this one is designed, simple not a lot of little parts to lose, blade adjustment is so easy just turn the adjustment wheel, no tools needed to adjust blade depth. Blades hold up well plus comes with spares which are also easy to replace and of course there are grip on both ends. If you strip a lot cable like I do, I highly recommend this tool.I have nothing to say negative about this stripper so far.

Customer Review: Very nice large cable stripper. Comparing this to the standard Klein one that is commonly seen, this one is a lot nicer feeling and looking. Performance-wise, it worked beautifully – see attached pictures showing the results of this on 250 MCM wire. I have also tried this on 2/0 sized wire and it worked just as well. It peels the insulation off in a spiral fashion which is quite satisfying, and super simple to use.The blades are also replaceable which is nice to see. I don’t know about availability of these blades, but they seem simple enough to change. As for the durability, I stripped 8 pieces of the 250 MCM and it still looks and works good as new, so I am confident it will last a good while.

I found it easy to strip 2/0, 3/0 and 4/0 AWG copper, but have not yet used on 250 MCM. It is solidly built, weighing in at just under a pound.Wow – so much easier and safer than cutting around the conductor(s) with a knife, and no risk of nicking the wire. I wish I had one of these in my tool pouch years ago. A couple of twists of the tool peels off a spiral strip of insulation. It did take a bit of practice to get a feel for cleanly peeling back the insulation and the amount of effort varies for different types of insulation, so practicing on a spool end or short throwaway piece of cable is recommended.There are small knife blades inside each of the clover ends that cut the insulation when the tool is twisted. The included instruction card illustrates the process for blade removal and replacement, but doesn’t list a blade source and no URL, phone number or other company information provided. A search for replacement blades returned zero results.Given the higher cost of this item and the presumption that the blades will get dull and become less effective with use, a source for replacements should be provided. It does not instill confidence that front of the instruction card reads “INSTRUTION (sic) MANUAL”.Overall this is a great cable stripper that saves time, makes clean cuts and takes up little space in your toolbox, but if you plan on using it frequently, clarification on blade replacement is recommended before purchasing.

The rubber grips help ensure a tight solid pull. It has a little wheel so you can adjust the tension, I have mine maxed out and I use it to strip the white coating from cat5 and the white coating and black and red coating from 18-2 wire. On 18-2, it can strip 2 wires at once. The size is relatively compact for what it is and fits nicely on my tool vest

I tried it on 12-gauge and had a hard time getting the conductors stripped without them being nicked by the stripping blades.It’s sometimes difficult for the tool to cut the Romex jacket and paper wrapping once it’s been separated from the conductors. I’ll need to practice that more.I’m not an electrician, but a homeowner who occasionally does projects involving 120 VAC wiring.I wish I had discovered this tool 20 years ago (if it existed).In the past I’ve always used an X-Acto knife to slice the Romex jacket down the middle where the ground wire is, so that I wouldn’t damage the hot and neutral conductors.
