Most telescoping ladders misrepresent the height as ‘max reach’ vs. actual ladder height (my other so called 14ft telescoping ladder is only 10.5 ft high).If this is your first time buying a telescoping ladder, here’s my quickie buyer’s guide:1) Get one with air cushioned ‘soft close’ retraction. The ones that slam your fingers are no fun.2) Closure buttons/levers should be on the front of first step, not the bottom of the step (check the photos)3) Only one pair of closure buttons on the bottom step; not each step (life is too short to actuate each step)4) Make sure there are visual locking indicators on every step (trust me – this is important)5) Double-check the height. Most list the ‘max reach’ vs actual height. They lie.That’s about all one can check when buying online. Once it arrives, a good ladder won’t flex (much) when you climb high and the cheap ones bow badly. No way to tell from the marketing. I can say this WolfWise is very good quality, as is the COSCO SmartClose. I wouldn’t be surprised of both didn’t come from the same factory.”

Customer Review: “I purchased this 12.5’ telescopic ladder over a year ago based on a lot of outstanding reviews and positive feedback. As a consumer, I rely on these reviews and comments that people leave, I generally find them extremely helpful. I mainly used the ladder to get on the roof of our RV to perform routine maintenance and repairs. For about 18 months the ladder worked great, no problems at all, I loved it! I felt safe using it, it was light weight, portable, and completely worked as advertised. Unfortunately, the first time I used it this Spring, I was unable to retract the ladder back to its original size. After a closer inspection, I noticed that one of the locking rung clips must had broken which prevented the ladder from fully extending and retracting back to its original size. I was completely devastated that something had broken, I really loved the ladder as it worked great for what we used it for. I knew the ladder was out of warranty, but I decided to contact the company (Ohuhu) anyway to see if there was something that could be done to either fix it or have it replaced. I contacted the company via the telephone number provided and left a message. I could not believe it, but I actually received a call back later that same day from the company asking how they could assist me, WOW! The very nice Customer Support Rep suggested that I send an email to their customer support department explaining the issue, which I promptly did. The next day I received an email back from Ohuhu customer support acknowledging my original email. Over the next several days, the Customer Support Rep. (Niki) and I exchanged emails back and forth trying to resolve the issue. I really did not know how this was going to turn out since the product was out of warranty, but to my surprise, the company offered to send me a replacement ladder at no charge stating that I was a valued customer to them and they wanted to make it right, YES! The next day I received an email from customer support (Niki) indicating that the replacement ladder was shipped and that I should receive the new one in a few days. Just as promised, I received the new ladder yesterday in perfect condition, and everything works great! I am so thankful to Ohuhu and their customer support team, when I originally bought the ladder, I never realized that it also came with caring people, outstanding customer service, and a company that truly stands behind their product!A very happy and satisfied customer.”

Customer Review: “I’m sure it is just a fluke, but the ladder I received arrived in a pretty battered up container. Though no physical damage to the ladder was visible, there are two rungs that fail to lock in. Using the ladder this way would be dangerous to say the least, when any weight is applied above the non-locking rung it bends over side ways. Again, I am sure this is not the way these ladders are made and sold, so I probably got a “fluke”, the manufacturer is notified and are working with me to resolve this issue. Other, than this minor flaw the ladder looks amazing and feels very sturdy when the non-locking rungs are not used.UPDATE: June 21, 2018, I contacted Ohuhu and informed them of the flaw I found with the ladder they sent me, they were extremely helpful in resolving the issue I had. Ohuhu, decided in a matter of 2 days to send out another ladder, one that worked perfect! I was really surprised by the quick action on their part, it shows that they really DO care about their customers. It is very nice of Ohuhu to do what they did, especially in such a short time. Ohuhu is one who will definitely stand behind their product. I greatly appreciate Ohuhu, and can wholeheartedly recommend them for anyone in the market for a new ladder.UPDATE: June 29, 2018, In my previous update I failed to change my rating from the original 2-Star rating. I\’m changing it to a 5-star rating I think it deserves. I\’ve used it several times now, and to me it feels very secure and safe to use. Being 72 years young I have to be extremely careful not to take a fall, my bones wouldn\’t like it very much. Customer Review: “This is my first real ladder purchase and it has done great things for me right out of the box.I’m an artist who doesn’t wheel around in a contractor’s truck – so I needed a reliable way to get access to wall heights that I could fit in the trunk of my car. I knew a telescopic ladder was the solution, and I even tried a couple smaller and cheaper units before finally settling on this one. (I have a buddy with a similar model and after seeing it in action I knew I had to take the plunge)I’m not very fond of heights, so I went with this model in particular for the wider steps – I just think I feel more secure with the extra contact points under my feet. Compared to others I have tried, I really do prefer it and this was the only ladder that I happened to come across with that feature which is really what sealed the deal. The downside of this is that it makes it a bit more uncomfortable to carry/handle with the protruding edges compared to the standard slim steps, but it’s still very convenient considering.Additionally I found this thing very easy to use and operate – within a couple of minutes to go through the motions and understand the process I felt like a pro. It’s a cinch to collapse this thing without a pinch, if you’re doing it right.It feels very sturdy and overall it has definitely been doing everything that it’s supposed to – I would highly recommend to anyone searching for a telescopic ladder of this nature, especially if you’ve got big feet or have to cling for your dear life every time you scale a wall.”

Customer Review: “ATTENTION FELLOW WEAKLINGS:This is a great ladder. I bought it for it’s convenient use and easy storage. What I didn’t pay attention tois how darn heavy the ladder is. And even though it’s designed to collapse safely without pinching your fingers it still managed to slice my finger on first use. Beware the sharp edges behind each step. (how about fixing this). Be careful when setting this ladder up on area rugs. You cannot grab the ladder from the top. I have no idea how you’re supposed to handle this telescoping to a height over your own height. Like I said, it’s really heavy. You put one foot on the bottom step for stability, then pull up the ladder from the bottom rung. Try not to do this around anything breakable and put a large mattress behind you as you will be struggling to not fall. The bottom rubber caps make the ladder really sturdy. That’s why it’s really difficult to stash it because it doesn’t slide.. at all. If you try to pick it up from the top it will start to expand but not move. Your arms have to be long enough to carry from the bottom. Best to find some rolley base to put the ladder on when storing. I don’t use it around the house as much as I would like because it’s difficult to manage. When I do use it I absolutely love it. In the future I will buy another smaller, lighter ladder for indoors and stow this ladder in the garage to replace the annoying ladders taking up space.”

Customer Review: “OK. I’m thoroughly impressed.IMPORTANT: The Chinese knock-offs are not nearly as well made. This ladder is ANSI rated, while the others cite that they are EN131 (European Union) rated. The important point here is that a ladder that is EN131 rated is tested at exactly the rated weight, while a ladder that is ANSI rated must be tested at 4-times its rated weight. In other words, a ladder that is EN131 rated for 250 pounds was tested at no more than that weight. An ANSI rated ladder, like this one, that is rated at 250 pounds, was tested at 1,000 pounds. BIG Difference. Also, do not be fooled by claims that a ladder is both ANSI and EN131 rated. That is NOT POSSIBLE. They are mutually exclusive rating systems.Now, to get on with my review.I inspect motorhomes and RVs and have to climb on top of some very tall coaches. Even if the coach has a ladder, I use my own ladder, because some of those attached ladders can be of marginal reliability. I used to use a folding extendable Werner ladder Werner MT-26 300-Pound Duty Rating Telescoping Multi-Ladder, 26-Foot that would reach 13 feet, in its folded configuration. But it was ungainly to handle, took up a lot of space in my truck, and took a lot of time and trouble to put up and take down. Don’t get me wrong. That Werner ladder a great ladder. But it’s just not meant for being mobile.Enter the Xtend & Climb 785P. This thing is 15.5 feet in length, fully extended. That’s a lot different that 15.5 feet in “reach”. Many ladder manufacturers try to make their ladders seem taller than they actually are. When most manufacturers say that their ladder is 15.5 feet, you will notice the word “reach” included in the statement. So what that really means is that the ladder is 12.5 feet in length and that an average size person could “reach” 15.5 feet. That is not the case with the Xtend & Climb. 15.5 feet means actual length, so your reach should be about 18.5 feet. In short, this ladder is the longest ladder of its type.It’s almost as heavy as my other ladder. But it’s in a much smaller and more manageable size. That means that I can more easily lift it into the back of my truck and it takes up far less space.I weigh close to 200 pounds. But when this ladder is extended to its full length, I feel perfectly safe, even at a significant incline. There is no bounce or bend to it, as you reach the middle of your climb, as happens with lesser ladders. It’s as solid as any ladder you could ask for. You can feel the difference between ladders that have been tested at 250 pounds and this one, that has been tested to 1,000 pounds. It’s all the difference in the world.But the best part is how easy it is to put up and take down. If I didn’t have to stop and attach some sliced pool noodles to the ladder, to protect the paint job on the coach, It would take less than 20 seconds. In fact, it takes longer to press the pool noodles into place than it takes to raise the ladder.Conclusion: Don’t go the cheap route. This Xtend & Climb ladder is only a little more expensive than the knock-offs, but well worth the difference in price.”

Customer Review: “My husband and I have been wanting to have our (very high) stairwell painted for several years. We are not old, but, we are not spring chickens, either. The ceiling of our stairwell is about 20 feet high. We did get some estimates from licensed, bonded painters. It seemed that even they didn’t want to touch it. It isn’t any different than most stairwells; we live in an average, suburban house. We DID get several estimates; they averaged about $500. I thought that was ridiculous. We borrowed our neighbors Little Giant ladder. It is SO heavy. Really too much for even the both of us to handle. It is a great ladder, just not for us. I am a very careful and cost conscience shopper; I seem to over analyze any and everything I buy online. I did quite a bit of research, and kept seeing the Xtend and Climb ladder. I wanted something that I could handle, even without my husband to help me. After much discussion, we bought it. It arrived the other day, and it is fantastic. It is easy for me to handle; it is very sturdy, and I feel extremely safe on it in the stairwell. I wish we had purchased this a long time ago; I would have had the stairwell painted years ago if we had. Of note, we also purchased the PiViT Ladder Tool. It is an extremely sturdy wedge that you use in conjunction with the Climb and Extend ladder, so that you can get to every angle of the high and out of reach places that you need to paint, without fear, when you have to put your ladder on stairs. I am not being paid to write this; I have no affiliation with any company that makes either one of these products. I simply got tired of trying to find someone that was willing to paint our stairwell without charging us an arm and a leg. I may only use either the ladder, or, the PiViT, once or twice a year but, they are well worth it. I RARELY write product reviews. I wrote this one because these products are going to save me money.
