We are on well water, so having spare parts on hand like pump, pipes, connectors, solvent, etc. is a most. After the old pump failed, I had everything I needed to replace it with this pump. Although I bought it when it went on sale, even at normal price it would’ve been much less expensive than buying a pump locally.The pump is quiet, runs smoothly and provides our house with 60 psi of water pressure, which is plenty of pressure and volume. Like most jet pumps, it requires priming when it’s first turn on. When we first move to the house, I made a permanent connection between the irrigation pump piping and the house pump piping with a valve in between. So I used the irrigation pump to supply water under pressure to prime the Red Lion pump and it was up and running in no time.The pump looks and feel like it’s well made and runs well. The pressure switch is set to 30-50 psi, so I adjusted it to 40-60 psi. The best way to do this is to turn the pressure adjusting nut clockwise and count each full turn. One full turn of the nut equals approximately 2.5 psi.Anyway, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase another one of these pumps in the future. It’s a great quality pump and I recommend it.”

It came with the pressure switch and pressure gauge attached. I was replacing a deep well pump to get water out of a lake for lawn watering. I already had both 1 inch and 1&1/4 pipe going from the pump house to the lake so I used a reducer adapter to use the 1&1/4 inch for suction to fit the I inch input size this pump pump needs. I have read that this is a good idea if you are pushing the max lift of a shallow well pump. I am lifting the water about 20 feet from the lake to pump. It works great and is much quieter than I expected. I have had it installed only 4-5 days and have watered heavy every day , but if this pump last, I am very happy with the results. The pump included the paper work to extend the warranty to 3 years for about $18.”

In my video review it sounds really loud, but that’s because my camera’s microphone is right in front of it. It’s not that loud. Once the cabinet doors are closed, it’s just low-level back round noise in the house when it kicks on.Piece of advice; there’s two, quarter inch plugs on the front of pump… take them out, remove and reapply the Teflon tape and re-tighten. They leaked on me during my initial start up.My old pump was a very expensive convertible Simer jet pump that the previous owner had bought and installed, and I wouldn’t have replaced it except I accidentally let it freeze and the housing cracked (which is why I moved this installation inside under my cabinets). The Simer pump was high quality and definitely worth what the previous owner paid for it. The point I’m coming to here is… this pump, so far, out performs the Simer and this one is less than half the cost. It’s quieter, gives more pressure, and fills the bladder tank a lot faster than the Simer did. They’re both 1/2 HP 115V pumps. I’m very impressed.The true test will come over time. Customer Review: “So far so good. I installed this pump to boost the water pressure in my house coming from our submersible well pump and through 2 filters & a softener. Easy set up and once I got both pumps working together it seems to do a pretty good job. One thing that confused me during set up was the directions did not indicate which contacts on the pump should be hot and return. So, I just connected it and hoped for the best figuring if it pumped backwards I would just switch the connections. Doesn’t seem to matter though. The pump runs relatively quiet. Can hardly hear it from the basement when it kicks on.”

Customer Review: “I replaced a 10 year old Myers pump with this thing 2 months ago. Hooked it up properly, never ran it dry (always had water + properly primed). It’s a lot quieter (on 230 V) than my Myers was – like 90% quieter. It also runs at lower PSI (about 28 instead of 40) but that’s not a big deal for my setup. Overall a reasonable purchase if you install and plumb it correctly. I suspect many of the issues reported here are bad plumbing and threading or bad electrical work. Myers is a better quality pump but a few months in and this thing is working just fine.May 2020 update:Been running this thing reliable for over 3 years now. Works wonderfully and reliably with a spindown filter on the output. I would happily buy it again if this one fails, but that doesn’t seem like it’ll happen anytime soon! Bumping it up to 5 stars for sure – it’s a good product. Also we use it with a 69′ deep well without any problems, though that probably explains the drop in PSI from the old Myers pump. :)”

Customer Review: “This pumped worked just great the first time I hooked it up….no problem at all priming……perfect for our 25 ft shallow well….runs very cool….only problem was the shut off point was not set at 50 psi….I found this out because my wife came running upstairs saying the pump blew up….it didn’t, it over heated, then started humming, then quit because the shut off point was at 40 psi and the shut on point was at 30 psi, which caused the pump to turn off, on, off, on etc when my wife was trying to start the washing machine…..boy, was I mad, but turned off the electricity, took off the pressure switch cover and set shut off point to 50 psi. Then I turned it on, watched the pressure gauge as it stopped at 50 psi, then started the washing machine and watched the pressure gauge go down to 30 psi when it cut on again. Pump then operated just fine, cooled off.One thing you must realize is the top output hole is 7/8″ NPT…..my old pump output hole was 1″ NPT, which necessitated me going to Amazon to order a 7/8″ NPT to 1″ NPT adapter…it arrived late, too late, as my wife was having a fit with no water for over a week, so I wrote Amazon to complain and they gave me the adapter for free. Very, very nice of them…..so now we’ve had a perfectly operating Wayne shallow well pump going fine since 20 December 2017…just before Christmas…..I think my wife threatened to shoot me if I didn’t get this pump in soon….as I said, over a week without water….had to run all over creation to get hard rubber 1″ water lines, clamps, etc……since then, I hid my gun.I highly recommend this pump….just make sure, when you primp it, then turn it on, carefully watch your required pressure gauge to monitor shut on and shut off points (In this case, 30 psi ON, 50 psi OFF)”
